Rouzbeh Shadpey is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and musician who emerged from Montréal’s experimental music scene in the mid-2010s. Under the moniker GOLPESAR, he honed a distinctive sound fusing Persian plunderphonics, electro-acoustic composition, and club-driven rhythms. Ritornello at Love’s End—Shadpey’s first LP, and first release under his own name—signals a desire for reconciliation between the various strands of Shadpey’s artistic practice. Five years in the making, it simultaneously presents the artist at his most sonically extreme and composed.
As GOLPESAR, Shadpey performed at major festivals and institutions across Canada, including MUTEK, Suoni Per Il Popolo, Debaser, Akousma, and Sled Island. His visual and performance work has been presented internationally at documenta fifteen (Germany), the Mosaic Rooms (UK), the Poetry Project (US), and TULCA (Ireland), among others.
In 2025, he was an artist-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie. He is currently based in the Netherlands.
